Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I've stumbled across a beautiful website by one of my favorite artists, Maynard James Keenan. The link is to the right. I've known for a while that he is a resident of this beautiful state, and I'm so pleased to see that he seems to love it here as much as I do. In addition, his vinyard seems to be thriving, a new TOOL album is due out imminately, and he looks like one happy dude. I'm happy for him. I like to see people thrive and live their life with passion, meaning, and thoughtfulness. We need more of it in this world. Maybe I'll drive up and buy some wine from him - if anything, just to support a local business and artistic endeavor.

Speaking of MJK, hubby and I drove to Jerome a few weeks ago just to have a look-see. Have lived here 11 years and while we've been all over this state, hadn't made it to Jerome. Loved it. I felt right at home among the ghosts and other local color. Too many damned tourists, which, unfortunately, I must count us among. We had a really great meal at the Haunted Hamburger - I've never had a better bowl of tomato soup - and then we just wandered around the town, admiring the views and the history. I've always wanted to open a bookstore, and I think Jerome would be the perfect setting for it. I get excited just thinking about it. We didn't run into MJK, which is fine - I mean what would I say to the guy anyways? From what I've read of him, we have a lot of things in common - and I think he'd rather enjoy having a librarian friend, especially one like me. Someday, I'd like to share a conversation and a bottle of wine with him...but for now, I'll make do by staying inspired by his art and living a good life.

Today, March 17, is the date that husband and I officially sealed our matrimonial bliss 9 years ago in Sin City, at the Candlelight Chapel on the strip. So here is to you, my love. We've come a long way, and are thankfully past all of the petty drama that haunts so many relationships. It's a lot of work, but a worthy cause, our marriage. We have fun, we laugh, and we still lust for each other - 13 years total and still going strong. Happy Anniversary, my rock-climbing, cat-loving, red-blooded hot speciman of a man. You are the best.
